‘Always On My Mind’ de Pet Shop Boys, elegida mejor versión de la historia

Continuando con la campaña de ‘BBC Music’, la misma que reunió hace unas semanas a diversas estrellas del pop para una versión de ‘God Only Knows’, la BBC puso en marcha una encuesta a principios de mes para dar con la mejor versión de la historia y el resultado acaba de publicarse. La lista se ha hecho a través de sugerencias de los oyentes de la BBC, sugerencias que después varios presentadores de la BBC han convertido en top 50.

Reinan la lista Pet Shop Boys con su versión de ‘Always On My Mind‘, el clásico de Elvis Presley que sirvió de adelanto a su disco de 1988, ‘Introspective‘. Completan el top 3, de manera más o menos predecible, ‘Hurt‘ de Johnny Cash, original de Nine Inch Nails; y ‘Walk On By‘ de The Stranglers, escrita por Burt Bacharach y Hal David y popularizada por Dionne Warwick.

Aparecen en la lista varios clásicos como ‘I Will Always Love You‘ de Whitney Houston, original de Dolly Parton; ‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine‘ de Marvin Gaye, que grabaron primero Smokey Robinson & the Miracles; ‘Nothing Compares 2 U‘ de Sinéad O’Connor, original de Prince & The Family; y ‘Respect‘ de Aretha Franklin, original de Ottis Redding.

Tampoco podían faltar a la caza de la mejor versión de la historia temas como ‘Limit To Your Love‘ de James Blake, original de Feist; ‘Feeling Good‘ de Muse, original de Nina Simone; o ‘Skinny Love‘ de Birdy, original de Bon Iver. Cierra la lista D’Angelo con ‘Cruisin‘, original de Smokey Robinson.
