- a lot of ppl say my work is about using sadness as a way to "bring girls together" and "feel less alone" which is v qt and nice but not actually true: im a lacanian bitch, my work is about Girls Being Alone and Sad and not trying to fix it, assuage it, make it more palatable. i believe being a person is a project of alienation fundamentally, we will always be disjointed, disconnected, and in pain just bc we exist!! all the extra alienation caused by the capitalist racist patriarchy is just that: extra, surplus, unnecessary. empowerment is not a direct line to "happiness": the binary of happy/sad never worked in life (bc there is pleasure in sadness, just as there is a bitter taste to joy), and it won't work in activism either.
- Why publish work online if it wasn't in some ways meant to engender a sense of community or to chip away at solitude? There is something to the idea of "being alone together" that I find beautiful and theoretically consistent with Lacan in ways.
- i luv ur question, i think the Internet is kind of the embodiment of "alone together" so maybe that's why im here and not at the rally (the ever present hypothetical rally lol)??? let me think abt it.
