My dear dear friends of the priory of the transcendent imagination,
I’m so happy to find you again, and to deliver you the first distillation of the great operatic gesture that has been working my body and soul for two years now. I am writing to you on this blessed day of the first representation of Redcar, the adorable stars, and I spent the whole day feeling a strange bliss, a real gratefulness to come back as I do now, on my own terms, after so many turmoils and tormented chapters of both my life and creation. I feel present, grateful to give you the stars’ saraband, their magical teaching, the gushing claire fontaine, for I know you shall understand what was exactly at play here - yes, I deeply trust you, I hold you in very high esteem, and this since the beginning. I am truly lucky to find you reading these lines, and this is why I promise to always give you the most precious reminder, red and derisory, the essence of my heart. I very strongly believe that we can still change the state of things, even if the machine messes with our fingers. I would never have done all of it without believing in it, without believing, simply put, that on the other side lies true love, the one we all descended to earth for. I was listening to Marvin Gaye just now, his wonderful bird voice, so pure in the morning, who sings to shed a new light on the world, to make the real true sun shine on it. I know nothing now, except that I thank you, that I’m glad to be alive, that my body slowly repairs around my knee, that I found in prayer the best expression of what makes me get up in the morning, hope.
It’s hope they shall never take away from us, children arrive in the world remembering more than we do about previous lives and crucial naivetés, a space inside of us is protected for ever from violence.
It is hope.
I thank you, infinitely, please enjoy Redcar for what he is, a Prior lost in the space of his dream, lost in his transformation, abandoned and blazing, in love with the heavens and loved by the angels. The opera is starting, its life itself, and ahead of me a whole life as a musician that I hope is a fair one, a true one, a luminous one.
I pray for yours to be all those things and more.
With all my love and respect,
Your brother in arms
Red
