Ragazzo:
"Well, I believe I owe you a few explanations regarding this “Untold Chapter,” as I’ve seen quite a lot of speculation, some accurate, some wildly off the mark. So if I may shed a bit of light on a few points, it might help clear things up.
First, about the delay; the topic that seems to have stirred the most ink. As many of you have probably guessed, “The Untold Chapter” was initially meant to be released much earlier. However, one specific track disrupted the entire timeline: the long-rumored duet with Tupac. That incorrigible childlike soul wrapped in a gangster’s armor ❤️ Madonna was deeply committed to including this collaboration on the EP (it was even intended to be the lead single) but things didn’t unfold as she had hoped. Still, it’s merely a battle lost, not the war! You might very well get to hear that track at some point in the future
I’ve also noticed many fans mentioning demo titles produced with Shep Pettibone and expecting them to appear on the record. Let me clarify; at no point was it planned for any other Shep-written tracks to be part of this project. First, those demos are simply not refined or complete enough for a commercial release; and second, they don’t fit the overall flow of the other songs. Like all demos from that era, the Shep sessions were revisited at the very beginning of the project, and only “Love Won’t Wait” made the cut. Another one came close to being included but was ultimately left aside.
Madonna wants to present to the world pieces that are fully realized, works that form a musically coherent whole."
