Bianca Del Rio is the first contestant in Drag Race history to win without being one of the worst throughout the competition.
Bianca Del Rio is the second queen to win the competition without being in the bottom 2, the first being Tyra Sanchez in season 2.
This also marks the first time that two contestants in the same season, Bianca Del Rio and Courtney Act, made it to the season finale without falling into the bottom two.
There’s been a lot of controversy about words within the drag and transgender communities. Do you think the t-word is ever acceptable to use?
Well, I have a sense of humor. And I have friends who are transsexuals. and they have a different path in life. Because they’re friends with me, they obviously have a sense of humor. And they get it. I get it. Did I find the whole “She-mail” thing offensive for me? Not so much. A friend of mine [and I] were discussing it recently, and we looked at it as a play on the word “email” as opposed to being hateful to one community. But I think my issue with it, and it’s something that I said before, is one of the people who were complaining about it, Carmen Carrera, I thought what’s interesting is, she’s complaining about this word, which has been on the show for six seasons. And the only reason we know who Carmen Carrera is, is because of the show. So I got to sit back for a minute and think about what you’re discussing. Like, it’s not that serious. It’s a drag show on Logo. We dress up. We pretend we’re puppets. … Lighten the fuck up. If you want to watch something serious, you watch Meet the Press or some documentary on Netflix. It’s not that serious. You gotta laugh about it. It’s not that big of a deal to me. And I don’t think the show is trying to be hateful to any community whatsoever.
Y que beaty fades but dumb is forever.
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 6 winner Bianca Del Rio has entered the “tranny discussion” in the most abrasive way possible, throwing former trans contestant Carmen Carrera under the bus so hard she’ll be feeling it for weeks. Del Rio, a noted insult comic who often shades for shock value, had zero filter when addressing a crowd at The Manor in Fort Lauderdale last weekend. Her opinion on the “tranny discussion” is quite obvious: “There’s all this madness about shit we can say and shit we can’t say, and I’m sure most of you saw on Twitter today that Ru was speaking her mind. And I think this is actual proof — I’m a man in a dress, and if it brings out straight people, black people, Asian people, then come and fucking celebrate. It’s not that fucking serious. And let’s face it. We wouldn’t know who the fuck Carmen Carrera was if she didn’t fucking get on Drag Race. Maybe she should take what’s left of her dick and stick it in her mouth and shut the fuck up.”
