For those not yet in the know, Russian-German producer and DJ Anton Zaslavski aka Zedd has seen his star rise exponentially over the last 12 months.
As well as finding success in the US last summer with his hit song 'Spectrum' and album Clarity, the 23-year-old has also been enlisted to work on Lady GaGa's next album ARTPOP.
Digital Spy phoned him up to talk about his new single, his Stateside success and, naturally, the latest on GaGa's LP.
Outside of your own music, you're working on Lady GaGa's new album. That's quite a big task, isn't it? "For me, it's the biggest honour as not many people get to work with one of the biggest artists in the world. It's even better that I was a huge fan of GaGa before and it was a dream of mine to produce a song for her. In that sense, the pressure on it is huge! That said, the fact that she is so open-minded musically and creatively has made it easier in some ways."
"She wants me to do the craziest songs I can possibly do. I'm not thinking about fitting a shoe on the right foot. We're doing something completely unique and what we think is new. She's not been saying, 'You need to please my fans so make the songs sound like this', we've just made music."
Born This Way was a huge album that some considered a flop compared to the success of The Fame. Have her record label been in touch much to oversee things? "There's always going to be an issue when people expect a lot. People always think the longer they wait the better the album will be, like Daft Punk have been gone for seven years, so people think their next album will be seven times better than their last. It's just a mistake. I think GaGa did exactly what she wanted with Born This Way and I think that's the only way you can be a true artist. It's the same with ARTPOP, she's just doing what she wants to do."
What is she like to work with? Do you get together in the studio much or do you pass things back and forth online? "We've actually been together for most of the sessions. We spent a few months together in LA a while ago and then I went on tour with her in Asia for almost two months. After the shows we would set up a studio and work on the track. We tried to avoid working solely over email as it's hard to bounce off each other's ideas that way."
Producing while on tour sounds tiring... "It was. We laid down the musical parts and then I could clean it up in a proper studio afterwards. Seriously, we've been working with the worst speakers you can imagine! That said, her lyrics or vocals won't sound any worse just because she did it in a hotel."
How finished are the songs you've been working on? "The songs we've worked on aren't finished, but I have no idea how far along the other songs are. If she says they're almost finished then they probably are."
How many of the tracks you've been working on do you think will make the album? "I honestly have no idea. I wouldn't want to put that kind of pressure on her - it's completely up to her what she puts on the final album."
Tell us about a song you've been working on together. "There's just been no limitations at all. No set genre, song length, anything. I'm not afraid to show her the least commercial idea I have. She has a certain way of writing and she likes it to be challenged on the production."
Las comparaciones de modelitos, son lo más BAE en el universo, "una random copiando a gaga", "gaga copiando a madonna", "madonna copiando a cher"...y de Cher pues no existían cámaras fotográficas, pero seguro ha "copiado" a otra y así hasta el inicio de los tiempos.
Una cosa es tener influencias de moda y adaptarlas a tu estilo, y otra hacer un catálogo de recortes de todo lo que quieres copiar y encima ir por el mundo como la más original… y sí, esta discusión es muy BAE, porque los little monsters, pese a las evidencias, seguirán creyendo que Gaga inventó la rueda.
^^ No seas patético por dios, eso ve a decirlo en su pagina de Facebook o en algún foro de fans reales. Aquí no creo que alguien este convencido de eso. Y la foto que has puesto es una tremenda tontería, es moda que ha adoptado Róisín, no inventado, lo mismo que ha hecho gaga.
Esto es como cuando un amigo no para de comprarse casi la misma ropa que tu, o muy parecida, porque le mola lo que llevas. Está bien, está en su derecho, puedo hacerlo todo el tiempo que quiera, pero #no.
Sigo pensando que hablar de quien copia a quien y esta copia a la otra y tal es totalmente una absurdez. A mi me gusta Gaga y a pesar de ver las fotos que ha puesto @Emanuelo pues pienso joder...lo mismo si es verdad que se le va la mano con el copy-paste pero y???? me da igual absolutamente.
Tampoco te ha dado igual a ti... No es por defender a emanuelo, pero creo que se refiere a que no se le de importancia (no?), sobre todo a fans. Entonces por qué os 'picais'? En el de Madonna ha vuelto a salir el tema de su físico y la edad con la foto de la chotera y nadie ha dicho nada.
Por otro lado, creo que el problema de Gaga es que en entrevistas y demás, o ella misma en su twitter, diga "me gusta roisin", "me gusta Madonna", "me gusta el hollywood clásico", "me gusta Dalí". Se ahorraría un par de quebraderos de cabeza si fuera así. Corregirme si me equivoco...
Buff...pero entonces que hace? si le preguntan por sus gustos musicales no se los va a inventar. Tendria que salir siempre con un guion preparado de casa. A ella y a nosotros nos tiene que resbalar ese tipo de acusaciones. Mas plagio y encima descarado lo hizo Nicki Minaja en Stupid Hoe con los ojos grandes de Gaga y ahí la tienes. Le suda todo.
En lo personal me cansa bastante ver comentarios nuevos y que resulten de la misma tontería de siempre, somo si el foro estuviera habitado por quinceañeras maricas que no han salido de su pueblo, casi prefiero que el hilo se pudra en la pagina 5.

@sagitarioaem Tienes razón, a mis treinta y tantos no debería ponerme al nivel de las quinceañeras maricas que escriben en este y otros hilos, entusiasmadas por una estrella del pop que para quienes tenemos cierta edad y otras referencias musicales nos resulta un timo en su intento por venderse como única a costa de la trayectoria de otros artistas y de la ignorancia de sus fans. Tendré que aprender de tus innumerables muestras de madurez que destellan en el historial de tus comentarios.
@Converse Estoy de acuerdo contigo, si por lo menos lo reconociera sería otro cuento. Madonna ha copiado a muchas, pero ha reconocido la influencia de todas: Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Mae West, Remedios Varo, Kylie, Goldfrapp, por mencionar los nombres de los que se me viene a la mente ahora. Y por mi parte es punto final al tema.
^^^ De mi historial muchos comentarios cortos, poco de lo que me podría arrepentir. En cambio tu tienes 50 tonterías de gaga copia, 50 más de lo fea que sale Beyoncé, unos 100 gifs que ya se han puesto mil veces y unas 10 personas que te han mandado callar. Pero en fin, peace out.
